Jordan's Way's New Money Grab Patreon

Oh yeaaaaah, it's totally worth $5 a month to watch Kris Rotonda and his FOR PROFIT business Jordan's Way LLC pretend to give a damn about shelter animals. The $250+25% they're making from these rescues and shelters just isn't enough.... he needs to exploit them more for his own profit.

Don't worry though, he'll "be selecting a shelter every month to give a donation to." We wonder if that'll end up like the mysterious cash, TV, Litter-Robot by Whisker, and BarkBox contests that there never appears to be a winner of (https://www.facebook.com/jordanswaysux/posts/pfbid0uvgNJu6ghoJrfzrSLXC2TmmeCubZbaQWNdQJsWQJHZYdM4UD33w7n7dsatUhJ2Yal)
Or maybe it's like the "Dollar a Month Club" where "all of the money raised through the $1 a month program will go directly to the shelter animals for things like treats, dog and cat beds, enrichment toys, and other supplies we can use not only to provide these animals with some added comforts, but also to help us raise more money for the shelters." (https://www.jordanswaytour.com/sponsor) Any shelter seen any of that money?

Jordan's Way needs to Talk to you about a Job... in Secret

"Better discussed on a call." Hahahahahahahlol.... why? Because you're trying to keep your little scheme a secret from the internet now?

Also, there's NFW he's really paying $60-100 an hour for this.

Jordan's Way Takes 1.7 MILLION DOLLARS IN 2.5 YEARS FROM THE BACKS OF SHELTER ANIMALS!

1.7 MILLION DOLLARS IN 2.5 YEARS TAKEN FROM THE BACKS OF SHELTER ANIMALS!

That's right..... Jordan's Way LLC claims to have raised 7M dollars in 2.5 years. With the 25% commission, that means over 1.7 MILLION DONOR DOLLARS HAVE GONE TO A FOR PROFIT COMPANY INSTEAD OF TO ANIMALS. This doesn't account for the additional $250 that each shelter pays for costs.
$700k a year for less than full time work doesn't seem like a bad gig. But it's not enough.... now Kris Rotonda wants to use these hard-working shelters to make even more money for himself at the expense of shelter animals.
Shelters and rescues should be ashamed for participating in this racket.

For Profit Jordan's Way not Registered in Colorado in 2022

Oopsie. Jordan's Way LLC wasn't registered in Colorado when it conducted fundraisers there FOR PROFIT in 2022. Jordan's Way finally registered for the 2023 fundraisers, but it seems the list of 3 shelters/rescues reported to the state doesn't match up with the list of fundraisers posted on social media.

Also, for those in the back.... this report clearly evidences yet again that these fundraisers are conducted by Jordan's Way LLC, a FOR PROFIT Florida company, not a charitable entity as claimed on the Jordan's Way website and social media.

Jordan's Way claims to be NonProfit with no Pennsylvania Registration

Tsk, tsk. Fundraisers conducted in Pennsylvania, but no Pennsylvania registration found. Pesky legal requirements for conducting commission-based fundraisers on behalf of actual nonprofits.

But, wait, there's more.... is Jordan's Way LLC going back to Pennsylvania for another round? It seems they've set up a whole new Facebook page this month with a big 'ol banner announcing their "non-profit" raising over 4 million dollars.
For the 800th time, the "Tour" is conducted by a FOR PROFIT company: Jordan's Way LLC. It is NOT a nonprofit. 25% of all donations paid to these fundraisers go to a FOR PROFIT company.
1 MILLION DOLLARS out of this 4 million didn't go to help dogs and cats, but instead helped line Kris Rotonda's pocket.

Jordan's Way "Charities" Dollar A Month Club Pays for.... What?

DoNaTe! Join our Dollar-A-Month Club!!!!!!!! Jordan's Way is a nonprofit!!!

But.... in reality, Jordan's Way LLC, a for profit company, takes 25% of the money raised from each fundraiser, plus $250.
Let's do the math on just one of these fundraisers.
-Shelter pays $250 up front
-Shelter provides all supplies (hot dogs, whipped cream, etc.)
-Shelter "builds the momentum" for the fundraiser (using their existing donor base)
-Jordan's Way LLC conducts a 3-4 hour Facebook live and collects 25% of all donations brought in from the time the fundraiser is posted to 48 hours after the live fundraiser ends, whether those donations are made through Facebook or otherwise
-Estimated $12,000 in donations
=
Estimated $2,843 to Jordan's Way LLC (the FOR PROFIT entity) for ~6 hours of work (we're tossing in a generous 2 hours to account for prep/travel time since they normally do 3-4+ of these fundraisers in one state at a time). ~$473 an hour. Now, let's take into account that they do 3-4+ fundraisers in one state at a time.
Also, again, as of its last reporting, Jordan's Way "Charities" did not have a valid board of directors. The board consisted of Kris Rotonda and his father. Where are the donations going? What board is deciding how donations should be spent? What respectable charity supports a FOR PROFIT entity? Even better.... what respectable charity supports a FOR PROFIT entity that is run by one of its "board members"(Kris Rotonda)?

Kris Rotonda and his fake prosecutor girlfriend

Once upon a time, a rescue was shocked to receive a $10,000 invoice from Jordan's Way LLC, a FOR PROFIT company, as a result of the Facebook live fundraiser they thought Jordan's Way "Charities" was doing out of the kindness of their hearts... you know.... just like they say on the Upwork ads.

Well, the rescue wasn't going to pay up. Most of the donations came from the people operating the rescue, who obviously would not have donated just to have 25% go to a FOR PROFIT business instead of their dogs.
In response? A nice veiled threat from Kris about his "prosecutor" girlfriend just being sooooo pushy about him getting his invoice paid.

Kris Rotonda hates us so much that he tried to hire a hacker to remove our page

We have reported this apparent threat posted by Jordan's Way aka Kris Rotonda on the "Upwork" site to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement - Computer Crimes Center). We have documented the listing and are ready to record any unauthorized attempt made to access this page or our accounts. Remember, conspiring to hack an account is just as criminal as hacking it yourself.

Jordan's Way not legally registered in 2021 for Utah fundraisers

SPOILER: Like multiple other times, Jordan's Way LLC was not legally registered as a professional solicitor or fundraiser with the state they were conducting events in.

REGISTRATION IS THE LAW. In 2020/2022, Jordan's Way tried to conduct fundraisers in our state without registration and lied about being properly registered. If the fundraiser went forward, it would have put OUR CHARITABLE STATUS at risk.
Per the Utah Division of Consumer Protection, Jordan's Way was not registered when it did its 2021 fundraisers and its registration is still pending for its fundraisers scheduled for next week. Utah requires written contracts be submitted. Have the charities done this? PROTECT YOUR NONPROFIT.

Kansas Attorney General raises questions about Jordan's Way

Ohhhh noes.... could it be that Jordan's Way wasn't legally registered in 2021 when it conducted its fundraisers for 25% PROFIT in Kansas?

Jordan's Way Employee Reports Not Getting Paid

Please consider helping Kelly Alexander, who per the GoFundMe page, got ripped off for her last three paychecks by Jordan's Way. Even worse, Ms. Alexander is disabled due to illness.

Considering Jordan's Way LLC collects a whopping 25% from each fundraiser they do, there should be plenty of money to pay Ms. Alexander for the work she did to help Jordan's Way pocket that money. Disgusting.
PS: We hope Ms. Alexander is reporting this to the IRS and her state agencies. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Jordan's Way pretends to make a "deal" with the New York Yankees

 YANKEES V. ASTROS!!! Who's a baseball fan?

Jordan's Way "Charities" sure was in 2019, when Kris Rotonda claimed that the New York Yankees were "finalizing a deal" with Jordan's Way. This amaaaaaaazing deal was just that the Yankees would donate $5 of each ticket purchased through a special link back to the participating organizations. It's a normal program they do to promote ticket sales for generally underattended games... not some special deal for Jordan's Way.
Again, in 2019, the Jordan's Way "Charities" 990 tax return says Jordan's Way Charities took in ZERO DOLLARS in donations. We've already shown you the 2019 direct money fundraisers that show income, including that very special calendar, but here's yet another fundraiser that may not have been reported to the IRS. Oops.

Jordan's Way's "zero dollar" tax returns in 2019 and 2020

Hey Jordan's Way, can we get those receipts? According to the Jordan's Way "Charities" 2020 tax return, you had "0" in donations come in, so we'd like to know what "more" you're referring to.

Donations per the Jordan's Way "Charities" 2019 tax return? 0 dollars. This fundraiser and the others on Facebook have curiously since been deleted (thank God for internet archives).

Jordan's Way Deserves Your Donation More Than Animal Shelters

Can they make it any more obvious that they aren't actually in this to help animals?

If you donate to Jordan's Way, your dollar goes FURTHER than it would if it goes DIRECTLY to an animal shelter. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
And, again, each shelter on the tour pays 25% plus $250 to the for profit LLC Jordan's Way. What are these donations for and where are they going?

"Jordan's Way Charities" 2021 Board per filings with Florida consists solely of Kris Rotonda and a family member (Joseph Rotonda) as TREASURER. 🤑 It doesn't even meet Florida's charity board requirements..... but keep sending those magical dollars that somehow help animals more than they would by going directly to the shelters.

Kris Rotonda Sends Fake 501 and then Cries About It

This was sent to us and we're rolling.

1. YOU (Jordan's Way) sent out the "false document" AKA the fake 501(c)(3) letter.
2. YOU (Jordan's Way) use photos belonging to shelters, rescues, and other social media pages on a daily basis without even giving them credit. At least we give you credit!
3. Which business are we hurting? The for profit one where you take 25% of the donations to animal shelters or the "nonprofit" one where the donations go..... where?
*snort*

Tuesday, January 12, 2021

Views expressed here are our opinions. We are not lawyers. You should talk to your state authorities or lawyer to determine whether Jordan's Way is compliant with your state laws.

Our story: In 2020, Jordan's Way (Kris Rotonda) said our rescue was "nominated" for a fundraiser. Wow! We were so excited to be "chosen"! But, our doubts began when we were told it would require a portion of the proceeds (25%) even though our existing audience/donors would be the main donors, a hotel room, and supplies... and there was no paperwork provided for that. What would bring a "national nonprofit" to our small town after all? Googling caused us to be concerned about multiple past failed business ventures and fundraisers. The Facebook page was very odd. Something seemed wrong and we reached out to our lawyer, who works with most of the animal rescues in our state, to check it out. She couldn't find Jordan's Way registered with the IRS and he didn't respond to her request for an EIN, so we asked him for more details, and he sent an email with a 501 approval letter. We discovered that letter was a fake (photoshopped from the approval letter for "Max and Molly Charities") and then he later falsely claimed to be validly registered as a charity as our state requires.

The Jordan's Way "charity" was also not validly registered in Florida where it was based at the time. He had a lot of excuses and even sent one of our rescue friends a screenshot of a charitable registration to prove he was registered.... but it was just a screenshot of the application being filled out and not of approval. He was wishy washy about how he just started a for profit LLC, couldn't bear to use the name "Jordan" so he was using Max and Molly, and the charity wasn't collecting donations anymore. He even told our lawyer he wasn't sure why anyone would think the 501 letter was forged and it just looks that way because of his "terrible scanner"....... but when that excuse didn't work, he then claimed to a different rescue that he had never seen that document before and blamed it on a random volunteer (like rescues don't talk to each other). It was NUTS. He had a lot of excuses and none of them involved having his proper paperwork in order. Our lawyer also found records with the Pinellas County Sheriff Department. Word spread fast among the other rescues and shelters that were "nominated" here that there were problems. After we cancelled our fundraisers, Jordan's Way had no shame and tried to conduct fundraisers in our state again this year without first having required registration as a solicitor approved. Groups cancelled again, and even had to ask for their $250 back (sometimes more than once). Our lawyer reported him to the IRS and she let us know recently that there's an agent investigating. We believe "Jordan's Way" misleads rescues, shelters, and donors about its business structure. Jordan's Way LLC is a for profit Florida business. Jordan's Way "Charities" is a nonprofit Florida business. Shelters on the "Jordan's Way Tour" pay Jordan's Way LLC, the for profit business, $250 plus 25% of all donations received. The website, social media page, etc. collect "donations" and represent "Jordan's Way" as a "nonprofit." Per 2021 filings, the "board" of Jordan's Way "Charities" is Kris Rotonda and a family member, Joseph Rotonda, as treasurer. Florida requires a nonprofit organization to have at least 3 independent directors. Jordan's Way is not conducting "charitable" fundraisers for shelters and rescues out of the kindness of their heart as their requests for donations suggests ("Join our $1 a month club!"). Again, $250 plus 25% is paid to a for profit business for each fundraiser. Money that donors think is going "directly" to a charity or the shelter or rescue and is instead going into Jordan's Way's pocketbook. This also begs the question: where do the donations go? Even worse than this confusion between the two businesses is that many states have rules about fundraisers for pay (INCLUDING OURS).... and many require contracts and approval before the fundraiser.... and the sponsor charity (the shelter/rescue) can get in trouble for not having that. It pisses us off that someone who supposedly loves dogs is so reckless about possibly hurting the rescues and shelters he's allegedly helping, all while lining his own pocketbook. We've done the research... these registrations aren't that expensive, but the after fundraiser reports probably have some tax implications...... All we know is what happened during our experience with Jordan's Way and we can't recommend it or agree with supporting paying 25% to a shady for profit when that money should be going to pets. Others have contacted us, including former employees/contractors and groups that have "worked" with Jordan's Way and had negative experiences too. Bottom line is that we think the whole thing is shady and he's a schmuck for putting shelters/rescues at risk and pretending he's doing all of this because he's such a nice guy who loves animals. If you do one of these fundraisers, definitely make sure the paperwork is in order and don't mislead your donors into thinking their whole donation goes directly to supporting your pets like it normally does from Facebook fundraisers. Donate directly to the shelters and rescues you support rather than padding this guy's pocketbook.
